Our Learning Environment

Ysgol Llandrillo Yn Rhos admits both boys and girls between the ages of 4 years (Reception) and 11 years (Year 6).
We also provide a part-time Nursery for children in the September following their third birthday.

All lessons are taught in English. Pupils whose home language is English, study Welsh as a second language and children whose home language is Welsh, receive instruction in Welsh.

We currently have two buildings - one which accommodates the infant children and another for the juniors. However, all children have access to both and are lucky enough to be able to use facilities on both sites.

Our premises are well maintained, with maximum use made of available space/resources. The junior building has nine large classrooms and the infant block has seven.

We have two halls which serve as a gym and dining area and we have two playing fields at the front of each building. Our wrap around care facility allows nursery children to stay on at school until 3.15pm. We also offer a breakfast club and an after-school club which runs until 6pm.

An old classroom on the junior site has been developed as an ICT suite. The pupils also enjoy a range of learning experiences in our garden/wildlife areas. Throughout the year on a rota, every year group has a Forest School session delivered by our specialist forest school leader.

We recently opened the Llandrillo Hub building on the infants site, which hosts community events and is also the venue for the 'Together Time' sessions run by our Family Liaison officer, Mrs Kathryn Williams. The hut is surrounded by beds where children grow vegetables and flowers. We also have our own chicken coop nearby.
